I was just in an accident. What do I do right now?
Breathe. Here is the order that protects you, in the next hour and the next few days, and one number to call when you're ready to deal with the car.
Today
File the claim. If the other driver was at fault, file with their insurer; if it's unclear or they're uninsured, file with yours. Tell whoever you file with that the car is going to Best Deal Auto Body Shop in Glendale.
This week
See a doctor if anything hurts, even a little; neck and back pain often shows up on day two, and a visit documents that it came from the crash.
Don't give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer until you've had a minute to think. You're not required to.
Get the car looked at, even if the damage looks small. A 'scuffed' bumper on a modern car often hides broken sensors and brackets.

Should I call my insurance company from the scene?
Only after you're safe and have photos. There's no prize for calling first, and a calm call an hour later is a better one.
The other driver wants to settle in cash. Should I?
